OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Cameron Mueller, a University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh student who was teaching English at Menasha High School, allegedly exchanged topless photos with a female student, according to a criminal complaint filed Friday.
Mueller, 23, faces one count of sexual misconduct by a school staff member. A signature bond was set during an initial court appearance Friday. Mueller returns to court May 22 for a status conference.
According to the criminal complaint, a witness told police about interactions between Mueller and the 18-year-old student, including exchanging topless photos, and saying Mueller “grabbed and smacked (the victim’s) butt while in class at Menasha High School.”
Police met with Mueller, who denied the allegations, saying “the teacher he worked with had warned him to set boundaries with (the victim) as people were becoming suspicious of their relationship.”
Police searched his phone and found selfies of Mueller without his shirt on, and a photo of a female’s exposed breasts, but her face was not in the photo, according to the complaint.
When police talked with the student, she confirmed she sent the photo to him, he had sent photos to her, and that the two had gotten emotionally involved with each other.
They were also physically involved on at least two occasions, according to the criminal complaint.
V1 stated that on at least two occasions, she and Cameron hung out together outside of school. In one instance, V1 rode along while Cameron worked for DoorDash in Appleton. V1 stated that while in the Fox River Mall parking lot, Cameron began aggressively kissing her. After leaving the Fox River Mall and delivering food to an apartment complex, V1 reported that Cameron again started kissing her and started touching her vaginal area over her clothing. V1 stated that she tried to push his hand away. V1 stated that Cameron ultimately dropped her off at home.
“She broke things off with Cameron because he was making comments to her about how they’d have to wait a few years to make the relationship official so it didn’t look suspicious,” the complaint states.
