OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Aircraft landing, visitors flocking to the runway, and campsites are visible from the highway.
EAA AirVenture 2025 is set to have another great year.
“It’s interesting to watch, not only the people who already arrived, but those who are on their way here,” Said EAA Director of Communications Dick Knapinski. “We see it over social media saying we’re bound from Colorado, we’re bound from Delaware, we’re bound from Germany or Australia, they’re coming to Oshkosh. Especially the ones saying it’s the first time I’m going, I’ve always wanted to come here.”
Those first-time visitors are prepared for an amazing week.
“Everything’s been kind of overwhelming for me. I’ve never been in an airshow actually, before, so it’s kind of fun to see everything for the first time,” said Grant Dalton, visiting from Trafalgar Indiana. This is his first trip to AirVenture.
“I’m looking forward to the firewall. I heard about the firewall, they showed me some videos,” Dalton said. “I’m looking forward to, I know there’s a big plane coming in. What’s that big plane? The 747. I heard about that as well.”
Even those who return year after year, like John Tunnell, are looking for new things to do on the grounds.
“We’ve had a great time, this year I’m actually building, I’m in the process of building a project so this is a little bit more fun for me, even though it’s been great,” Tunnell said. “Just seeing the airplanes, being able to, kind of, explore options.”
And Jaydon Williams from Virginia is set on networking.
“I’m also looking forward to meeting more people in the AOPA industry and meeting more serious pilots in the industry as well. So, just looking for that, and possibly just looking for another aviation job,” Williams said.
Wittman Regional Airport will see over 10,000 aircraft landings and take-offs during the run of EAA Airventure. That makes the airport in Oshkosh the busiest in the world for the week, with an airshow every day.
EAA runs Monday through Sunday.
Daily tickets are $68 for non-members, $49 for EAA members. The event runs through next Sunday.
