DE PERE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Wisconsin Department of Justice is conducting an investigation regarding an officer-related death this morning in De Pere.
According to a release from the DOJ Communications Office, just before 1 a.m. Saturday dispatch got a call of someone with a rifle at the Perkofski Boat Launch. Officers from De Pere Police, Ashwaubenon Public Safety & the Brown County Sheriff’s Office responded and attempted to negotiate with the individual.
Shortly after the subject showed their rifle and officers from De Pere & Ashwaubenon fired their weapons and hit the person. The individual was pronounced dead at the scene.
The involved officers will be placed on administrative leave, per the departments’ policies.
