APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Appleton’s largest park is being renamed to honor veterans.
The former Memorial Park was officially renamed Veterans Memorial Park during a ceremony Thursday morning.
“Veterans Memorial Park is a place where our community can pause to reflect, remember, and give thanks,” said Dean Gazza, Director of Parks and Recreation. “We’re honored to help create a space that pays tribute to those whose service and sacrifice protect the freedoms we all enjoy.”
Appleton’s Common Council voted to change the name in June. The vote passed 13 to 1.
