GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Officials cut the ribbon Wednesday on improvements to what they called “the most dangerous intersection in Brown County.”
The two-phase, $4 million project to revamp EB-44 included repairs and upgrades to Packerland Drive and a roundabout at Trojan Drive, by Green Bay Southwest High School. The goal was simple: to address safety and access concerns.
“Per our 2018 report, we had the most accidents and crashes in Brown County at that location,” Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach said.
The county worked closely with the city of Green Bay and the Oneida Nation to make these improvements a reality.
“When we think about collaboration and we think about safety for our community, this is one of those projects where I think we hit a home run,” said Streckenbach.
Although the project has wrapped up, officials say they will continue to keep an eye on the area and see if any changes need to be made in the future.
“Right now, for all intents and purposes, the major piece of this safety plan has been implemented. Now, we’ll give it some time to see what type of things need to be readjusted,” said Streckenbach. “We’ll examine and make some modifications, if necessary.”
