GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The tall ship Utopia will dock at the City Deck in Green Bay for Independence Day weekend.
The ship arrives around noon on Friday. Free public deck tours will be made available from noon to 2:00 p.m. It will also offer a ticketed charter run from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Deck tours will then open back up from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m.
On the Fourth of July, Utopia will host a morning veteran cruise. It will then offer deck tours from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The ship will also be present for the Waterboard Warriors ski show and evening fireworks.
On Sunday, Utopia will host ticketed public charter cruises at 10:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
“We are incredibly excited to bring this magnificent vessel to our waterfront for the holiday weekend,” said Deputy Director of Green Bay Parks, Recreation & Forestry James Andersen in a news release. “This unique partnership offers our community a phenomenal way to celebrate our local maritime history and honor our veterans.”
Utopia was built in 1946 in Wisconsin using leftover World War II materials. The ship completed a global circumnavigation in the 1950’s, and since then has remained in Northeast Wisconsin serving veterans through the Patriot Racing Project.
Tickets for the cruises can be purchased here. All deck tours are free of charge.
