(LEARFIELD) – The red hot San Diego Padres scored five times in the second inning on their way to an 11-2 pasting of the Brewers in San Diego on Tuesday night.
The big blow in the second inning was a grand slam by former Brewers player Luis Rengifo off of Brewers starting pitcher Kyle Harrison.
The Padres have taken the first two games of the three-game series.
Milwaukee pitching gave up three homers and 17 hits.
Kyle Harrison was the losing pitcher.
Harrison allowed 8 runs on 10 hits and 3 walks and saw his ERA climb to 3.47.
Bryse Wilson allowed the other 3 Padres runs.
Andrew Vaughn had 2 hits for the Brewers.
Walker Buehler got the win for San Diego. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits and 2 walks over 6 innings. He struck out 5.
With the loss, the Brewers’ lead over the second-place Chicago Cubs was trimmed to 4 games after the Cubs beat the Washington Nationals 8-6.
Dustin May starts for the Brewers this afternoon as they try to avoid the sweep. May is 6-7 on the season with a 4.30 ERA.
San Diego will counter with Robbie Ray who is 10-7 with a 3.24 ERA.
