MENASHA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Fox Valley tornado victims are getting a helping hand from pro basketball teams.
The Milwaukee Bucks and the Wisconsin Herd made a stop in Menasha Tuesday to drop off supplies to help the relief efforts for tornado victims.
“You know we did a drive in Milwaukee and in Oshkosh, so you’ve got cleaning supplies, paper towels, toilet paper, batteries, nonperishables,” said Bucks President Josh Glessing. “Anything we can bring to help bring back some semblance of normalcy.”
Glessing said the damage was more than he expected.
“To see the storms pick and choose what to take and what not to take, it’s more emotional than I thought it would be. You see someone’s home, where they’ve lived and they’ve raised their families, to be gone,” he explained.
The donation team brought the supplies to Jefferson Early Learning Center. They even had a helping hand from Bluejay and mascots Pointer and Bango from the Herd and the Bucks.
Winnebago County Emergency Management said the donations will be gamechangers.
“It’s amazing,” said Karoline Hopfensperger. “I mean, just the reach that we’ve received support from. It’s just you know it takes your breath away.”
Glessing added while the team is based out of Milwaukee, the entire state of Wisconsin is their home.
“Our fans are in the state of Wisconsin. And quite frankly, in surrounding areas as well outside of Wisconsin at some point you just have to be humans and you have to take advantage of the platforms and opportunities that we have because at some point, we’ll need support,” he said.
