MARINETTE COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Two teenagers were killed in a single-vehicle crash in the Town of Lake. Two other passengers sustained serious injuries.
Saturday night, at 10:55 p.m., Marinette County Dispatch received an iPhone crash notification with coordinates to a location on Highway G. Shortly after, dispatch received a call from a passerby reporting a single-vehicle crash at the same location.
A vehicle traveling south on County Highway G near Loomis Road failed to negotiate a curve and went into the ditch, striking a tree, investigation indicates.
The driver, Landen J. Englund, 16, from Menominee, Michigan, sustained fatal injuries in the crash.
The front seat passenger, Princeton J. Welty, 17, from Crivitz, Wisconsin, also sustained fatal injuries.
Two other passengers in the vehicle sustained serious injuries. One passenger was ejected from the vehicle. Both were transported for medical treatment.
The crash remains under investigation. Speed appears to be a factor.
