APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) — Outagamie County Executive Tom Nelson has launched his third book.
The Green and Gold Standard: A People’s History of the Green Bay Packers examines one of the most successful and beloved teams in America.
The book centers around the ‘why’ behind the team’s prevalence in pop culture.
“What is it that makes the Packers so special?” said Nelson. “What makes them so unique that they have such an extensive following of fans that cut across demographics, political backgrounds, geography, everything?”
While in the writing process, Nelson interviewed Bob Harlan who ended up contributing even more to the finished product.
“He wrote the foreword and it was an absolute honor. I wasn’t expecting that. And then four months later, he had passed on,” said Nelson.
The book offers a complete Packers history from 1919 to today through the people of Green Bay.
The book officially launched on September 1. You can buy the book on Amazon and through other major retailers.
