GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Seven months after the fire at Green Bay Converting’s Larsen Road facility, the company says cleanup is finished, production is returning in phases and a replacement warehouse is under construction.
On March 16, shortly before 8 A.M., the building caught fire for unknown reasons. The fire remained for several days, due to high winds and heavy snow from Blizzard Elsa. Once extinguished, rebuilding efforts quickly began.
GBC said cleaning and remediation of production equipment and the facility were completed in June. Since July, the company has been phasing production back in, a restart it expects to continue through the end of the year.
The company said operating without an adjacent warehouse has made production “considerably more complex,” but that its team is managing it. GBC said rebuilding the warehouse is underway, with the foundation poured, and that the new building will have a comparable footprint to the one that was lost in the fire. Construction is expected to be complete in the second half of 2027.
GBC said it remains committed to the Green Bay community and that its goal is to return to production and employment levels that exceed where the company was at the time of the fire. The company said there is still work ahead to make the recovery successful.
They also thanked the community for its support and said it is grateful for community resources that helped in the hours and days after the fire, particularly fire departments and local partners. The company said its focus and priorities remain with the company, its employees and its customers.
Green Bay Converting said it plans to provide another update once the full production restart is complete and further progress has been made on the warehouse rebuild.
