SHAWANO, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Collyn Jorgenson was convicted Monday for the fatal crash in which he was driving more than 100 mph shortly before impact. Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 21.
Jorgenson, 19, pleaded no to contest to three counts for the June 19, 2025, crash in the town of Seneca: first-degree reckless homicide, homicide by use a motor vehicle while using a controlled substance, and injury by use a motor vehicle while using a controlled substance.
Five other counts were dismissed.
At times before the crash, Jorgenson’s speed reached 120 mph, and was at about 101 mph at the time of the crash, District Attorney Greg Parker said at a previous hearing. Jorgenson lost control, struck a rock and went airborne for more than 100 feet before landing on the roof, Parker said.
A 14-year-old was killed and a 15-year-old was injured, he said.
Jorgenson initially claimed someone else was driving, Parker said.
