APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Appleton City Council’s Parks Committee is recommending that Veterans Park return to its previous name: Memorial Bridge Park.
The renaming is necessary because Memorial Park on the city’s northside was renamed Veterans Memorial Park. To avoid confusion, the existing Veterans Park was slated for a new name.
After receiving 171 suggestions, and narrowing the list to nine, on Monday to Parks Committee recommended ‘Memorial Bridge Park.’
“This was the original name of the park before it was changed to Veterans Park,” city communications director Paula McCambridge said.
The full council votes on the name Nov. 4.
