(GREEN BAY ATHLETICS) MILWAUKEE – The Green Bay Women’s Soccer team’s memorable season came to an end Saturday, as they lost to the No. 1 seed Milwaukee Panthers 4-0 in the Horizon League Championship.
The Phoenix doubled its win total from a season ago, finishing the year 8-9-4 and just one game from the NCAA Tournament.
For their strong postseason performances, Laney Stark, Rebecca Stoeckmann, and Anna Scott were named to the Horizon League All-Tournament Team.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Green Bay controlled the pace early until former Phoenix player Zoey Pagels gave Milwaukee an early 1-0 lead in the 10th minute off a deflection that hit the top crossbar and just snuck over the line. Kristina Karlof scored shortly after, doubling the Panthers’ lead in the 16th minute with an Aolimpico goal, firing the ball into the net directly from a corner kick.
Green Bay threatened in the second half, but the Panthers’ Lola Wojcik scored two more goals for MKE in the 62nd and 83rd minutes. Milwaukee won its eighth-straight Horizon League Championship after securing the 4-0 win.
