St. Paul Lutheran Church at 200 North Commercial Street is open as a Daytime Warming Shelter.
The shelter will be open 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on days when the temperature/wind chill is below 10 degrees.
Hot drinks, snacks and free Wi-Fi are provided.
Visit the Wisconsin 211 website to search for a warming shelter in your area.
As of now, the shelter will be open Monday and Tuesday and next weekend when morning lows could approach -20 degrees Friday and Saturday mornings.
The shelter is run by volunteers so the more volunteers they have available, the more days it will be open.
A Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. Tuesday. Wind chills will be as low as 25 below which could cause frostbite to exposed skin in 20 minutes. The cold weather continues all week, in fact we could see daytime highs remain below zero late this week.
