NEW YORK, Jan 28 (Reuters) – U.S. refiner Citgo Petroleum has bought Venezuelan crude oil for the first time since it severed ties with its parent, state-run oil firm Petroleos de Venezuela SA, in early 2019, two sources familiar with the matter told Reuters on Wednesday.
Citgo bought a cargo of about 500,000 barrels of Venezuelan heavy crude oil for February delivery from the trading house Trafigura, the sources said.
The sources requested anonymity to discuss confidential details. Citgo and Trafigura did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
