GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A new facility serving young children with autism opened its doors Thursday.
The Wisconsin Early Autism Project (WEAP) hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for its Green Bay Learning Center, located in the I-43 Business Center at 3189 Voyager Drive. Community leaders, healthcare and education professionals and regional partners were in attendance to celebrate this expansion in local autism services.
“We were overflowing in our De Pere Learning Center. We knew we needed another space and wanted to make sure that we had resources for all the families on the east side of Green Bay,” said WEAP Regional Clinical Director Kerry Hoops.
WEAP, which is part of LEARN Behavioral, has provided evidence-based autism resources for over three decades. It offers applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy and comprehensive diagnostic evaluations that help children with autism and their families achieve success.
According to officials, the Green Bay facility will be able to provide ABA therapy to up to 50 children, ages 18 months to six years.
WEAP has nearly two dozen other locations throughout Wisconsin, including in De Pere, Oshkosh and Sheboygan, and plans to open another facility soon in Appleton.
