MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Roncalli Catholic Schools will move seventh and eighth graders to the high school beginning in 2027.
The school system says the move will allow for the construction of a 3K-6 range for the elementary school. It also gives the seventh- and eighth-graders access to high school science, art, library, auditorium, gymnasium and athletic facilities.
The move will not require new construction on the high school campus, school leaders say.
“This decision reflects our commitment to providing the strongest possible academic experience for every student,” president Tom Korta said in a news release. “By thoughtfully aligning grade levels across campuses, we are able to expand opportunities, improve instructional efficacy, and better prepare students for success in high school and beyond.”
Korta plans to hold listening sessions for families to learn more about the plan, ask questions and share feedback.
The board also says it will share conceptual plans, budgeting and construction timelines for the new elementary school when they are available.
