GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A former Green Bay radio DJ who was charged in April in a child pornography and drug case now faces a felony theft charge in Brown County after investigators alleged nearly $14,000 was misused from the U.S. Junior Curling Association.
Daniel Lieburn, 39, previously worked on-air as “Dan Brown” at 95.9 KISS FM and is no longer employed by Woodward Community Media. The criminal complaint filed Thursday alleges Lieburn controlled the curling nonprofit’s Square account and failed to transfer all proceeds from camps, clinics and merchandise sales into the organization’s bank account between 2021 and 2024.
Investigators said Lieburn embezzled $10,441.25 from the curling organization’s Square account through ATM withdrawals and another $3,156.28 through other purchases. The complaint said a Square debit card tied to the account was used for 215 transactions totaling more than $13,500, including ATM withdrawals, gas station purchases and other personal expenses. Authorities alleged 40 ATM withdrawals totaling $5,477.25 were made at XS Nightclub, where Lieburn worked as a manager.
During an interview with investigators, Lieburn admitted he used the money because he was struggling financially and could not pay bills.
Lieburn is charged with theft in a business setting involving more than $10,000 but less than $100,000, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $25,000 fine.
