GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Just 2 days after heavy rain and hail poured down on the greater Green Bay area, Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary learned its property has been condemned.
Early Friday afternoon, Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary posted an image of the red notice to its Facebook page. The notice reads in part, “This building/unit located at: 151 N. Broadway, cannot be used for human habitation, occupancy, or use.”
The building housing 151 North Broadway and other properties had its roof collapse Wednesday evening due excessive water accumulation from the storm. Safe Haven confirmed the first floor of the sanctuary flooded that night.
Thursday afternoon, the pet sanctuary also provided a photo of the damage from inside the building.
At first, the pet sanctuary believed all cats were safely evacuated from the building, however one got loose. Late Thursday night, that cat was found inside the building and successfully trapped.
All the other cats were taken in by other animal groups and volunteers.
