(LEARFIELD) – The Milwaukee Brewers spotted Cincinnati a three-run lead, then came from behind to grab a 5-3 victory Monday night at American Family Field in Milwaukee.
Joey Ortiz belted an eighth-inning homer with a man on base for the win.
Ortiz said that he knew the club was looking for some big hits.
Ortiz said that Brewers manager Pat Murphy had a message for him before the game.
Murphy talked about Ortiz.
Murphy also talked about how he loves the fight in his team right now.
Brice Turang also went deep, Aaron Ashby got the pitching victory for his 11th win of the season, and Trevor Megill earned his 11th save of the season.
Robert Gasser started and went 5 2/3 innings for the Brewers, giving up 3 runs on 7 hits and 1 walk. He struck out 5.
Andrew Vaughn and Sal Frelick both had 2 hits for the Brewers.
Sam Moll took the loss for Cincinnati.
Brandon Sproat starts tonight’s game. Sproat is 2-4 with a 5.43 ERA.
Cincinnati counters with Rhett Lowder who is 3-5 with a 5.81 ERA.
