MENASHA (WTAQ) —Power lines are down, homes are destroyed, and people are only now getting a grip on the scope of the damage in Menasha and throughout the Fox Valley caused by severe storms that moved through the area Monday afternoon.
Footage and pictures posted online show devastation along the city’s Main Street including destroyed homes and businesses.
Governor Tony Evers says he’s been briefed on the storms and that the state will assist.
I have been briefed on the storms making their way through Wisconsin. The state is ready to assist communities however we can. I also want to thank the emergency responders who are hitting the ground to help.

Travel through the area is extremely difficult right now, and Menasha police are urging residents to stay away from impacted areas unless absolutely necessary, stay away from downed power lines, and limit non-emergency travel.
Road closures on Highway 441 and US-10 are expected to continue over the next several hours.
In Menasha, they have set up the following emergency cooling shelters that can provide water and basic assistance:
- Christ the Rock Church
- Menasha Senior Center
- Menasha Public Library
