(LEARFIELD) – Wisconsin Badgers football coach Luke Fickell met with the media at Big Ten Media Day Monday.
Fickell said that a lot of changes have happened over the last 9 months in Madison.
Fickell said that they started to turn things around at about the midway part of last season.
Fickell talked about his three veteran players that also made the trip to Big Ten Media Days in Chicago – wide receiver Chris Brooks, safety Matt Jung (Neenah high school) and linebacker Sebastian Cheeks.
Fickell said that these 3 players deserve credit for what they are trying to build in Madison.
Fickell talked about this year’s schedule starting off with highly-ranked Notre Dame at Lambeau Field.
Jung said that he feels great about the start of fall camp in a week.
Jung added that being from Neenah, playing for his home state team is quite the experience.
Jung also talked about opening the season at Lambeau Field.
Subtracting from the roster: The Wisconsin Badgers updated roster for the 2026 college football season reveals that three players have left the program.
The roster was released Tuesday.
Sports Illustrated reports that cornerbacks Remington Moss and Jahmare Washington and defensive lineman Torin Pettaway are no longer on the team.
None of the three were expected to start.
Washington and Moss were 3-star prospects coming out of high school and all three were part of the recruiting class of 2025.
Tonje to the Blazers: Former Badgers star John Tonje has signed a two-way contract with the Portland Trail Blazers.
Tonje was taken in the 2025 NBA Draft by the Utah Jazz.
The Jazz traded him to Boston for a second-round pick and he played six games for the Celtics during the regular season.
ESPN reported on Tonje’s new deal last weekend.
