GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Former Green Bay Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy has a new title to add to his resume — college professor!
Murphy will be leading a three-part live webinar series on the history of football and how it has evolved as one of America’s most influential sports. The classes are part of the Continuing Education and Workforce Training programs at UW-Green Bay. Murphy and the program’s executive director, Jess Lambert, appeared on Good Day Wisconsin to invite viewers to sign up.
During the webinar series, “The Evolution of American Football,” Murphy will trace the game’s development from its roots in the 1800s to the modern NFL. Students will learn about rule changes, player development, league structure, media influence and more.
Lambert says Murphy brings a unique perspective to the series, in that participants will have “direct access to the experiences and perspectives of a leader who helped shape professional football.” Before leading the Packers from 2007 through 2025, Murphy served as Athletics Director at Colgate University and Northwestern University, played 8 years in the NFL with Washington, and remains the only one to win a Super Bowl as both a player and an NFL team’s chief executive.
These days Murphy is the UW-Green Bay’s inaugural Executive in Residence, supporting Phoenix Athletics through regional partnerships, coach mentorship and strategic initiatives.
The three-part live webinar series is $119 and will be held from 12 – 1 p.m. on the following dates:
