(247NEWSSOURCE/LEARFIELD) – Tempers flared at the Packers’ final open session before tomorrow’s joint practice with the Arizona Cardinals.
Wide receiver Matthew Golden and edge rusher Barryn Sorrell got into a scuffle with linebacker Zaire Franklin and edge Lukas Van Ness also involved.
Safety Trey Dean the Third was sent off the sideline after a dispute with wideout Will Sheppard.
Tag match: NFL coaches and brothers, Matt and Mike LaFleur, are working together this week.
The Packers will hold a joint practice with the Arizona Cardinals before the two teams meet in the final preseason game this Friday.
Green Bay coach Matt LaFleur says if fighting breaks out during that practice he will tell his players to “tag me in” and he and Matt with “throw down” on the 50-yard line.
ESPN reports that Matt says his parents, Denny and Kristi, will probably look like Christmas trees this week because they will be wearing red for the Cardinals and green for the Packers.
Chatting it up: LaFleur talked about what he expects facing Arizona in joint practice.
As for his own players, LaFleur said that Aaron Banks is making progress to be ready for week 1.
In talking about his wide receivers, LaFleur said that Matthew Golden has elite hands.
Who played well against Denver? The head coach said that Chris McClellen had a good showing.
He said that undrafted free agent from Florida J. Michael Sturdevant has done a lot of good things.
LaFleur also said that he likes what quarterback Kyle McCord has given them.
To the lockerroom: Wide receiver/returner Sky Moore is one of the players battling for a roster spot with the Packers.
Moore was asked if there is an urgency with the end of camp coming to a close and final cuts coming.
How does he feel with camp ending and cuts to be made?
Defensive lineman Barryn Sorrell who got into a scrap with Matthew Golden during Monday’s practice said that the defense loves to get after it.
Sorrell was asked what the goal of Wednesday’s joint practice is.
He said that he remembers last year’s joint practice with the Colts.
Cardinals players will get to ride kids bikes: The Packers will welcome the Arizona Cardinals to Green Bay this week for a joint practice, set for Wednesday, Aug. 26, prior to the preseason game between the two teams on Friday, Aug. 28. The start time for practice on Wednesday has been changed to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday will also mark the final open practice at 2026 Packers Training Camp.
To ensure the Cardinals players experience one of the most storied training camp traditions in the NFL, kids of all fan affiliations are encouraged to bring their bikes to Lambeau Field to offer rides to Cardinals and Packers players alike prior to practice.
The Cardinals will begin practice on Clarke Hinkle Field, on the west side of the Don Hutson Center, before joining the Packers on Ray Nitschke Field on the east side of the Don Hutson Center for the joint portion of each practice.
To offer rides to the Cardinals, kids are asked to line up with their bikes in front of the Potawatomi Sportsbook Gate on the south end of Lambeau Field off of Valley View Road. Kids can line up as early as 9 a.m. but are asked to be in place by 10:30 for the Cardinals to make their way to practice. A bike corral will be set up to guide kids and players from the locker room door as they travel east, through the Lambeau Field parking lot and across Oneida Street. Cardinals players will enter the practice field through a gate in the fence surrounding Clarke Hinkle Field.
During practice, kids can line their bikes up inside of Lot 1 to wait for the end of practice, when they will be able to offer their bikes for the Cardinals players to ride back to the locker room.
To ensure a smooth and safe ride to practice, law enforcement will be directing traffic on Oneida between Lombardi Avenue and Mike McCarthy Way during pre- and post-practice movements. Visitors should know that Packers players will continue to ride bikes, as well, with normal DreamDrive operations taking place outside the Oneida Nation Gate.
