(WTAQ-WLUK) — Because of overwhelming demand, nonprofit organizations offering financial assistance to tornado-impacted families are asking people to make an appointment to discuss how to receive help.
Community groups on Monday announced a pool of $1 million available for families affected by the July 27 EF-3 tornado. The funds will be distributed through two organizations, LEAVEN and People of Progression.
On Tuesday, LEAVEN said it opened its doors to lines of people requesting help.
The organization is asking people to visit its website to make an appointment. A phone line is open only to those who do not have access to the internet. Those without internet access can call 920-738-9635 to make an appointment.
The money comes from the Community Response Fund. Leaders of the effort say these funds are not necessarily the last tornado assistance a household may receive.
