WAUSAU, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Republican Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate Tom Tiffany had to be rescued from the waters of Lake Wausau after a plane he was flying in made an emergency water landing.
The Tiffany campaign says the four-seat Bonanza lost power as it approached Wausau downtown airport.
After landing, Tiffany said he and the pilot escaped, swam to shallow water and waited for first responders to rescue them by boat.
Both were taken to Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Tiffany thanked both the pilot and emergency crews for their quick action.
