GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — The Green Bay Packers were dominated in their home opener Thursday night, falling to the previously winless Atlanta Falcons 35-14 at Lambeau Field. The loss drops Green Bay to 1-2, with the Packers struggling to run the ball and protect Jordan Love.
Atlanta rushed for 242 yards compared with just 17 for Green Bay. Bijan Robinson led the Falcons with 194 yards and two touchdowns, while Love completed 28 of 53 passes for 312 yards and two touchdowns. The Packers also played without injured offensive linemen Aaron Banks and Zach Bako-Bewele, who is expected to miss the rest of the season.
The Packers were booed by home fans throughout the second half. The Atlanta Falcons went into the game having scored just 16 points in their two previous losses this season.
Green Bay also continues to deal with the absence of running back Josh Jacobs and defensive star Micah Parsons. The Packers committed six penalties Thursday after leading the league in penalties through the first two weeks. Green Bay took an early 7-0 lead, but Atlanta scored 27 straight points before the Packers added a late touchdown.
