(ST. NORBERT COMMUNICATIONS) RIVER FOREST, Ill. – St. Norbert College pushed Concordia University Chicago to five sets but came up short in a 3-2 loss in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference match at Geiseman Gymnasium.
The Green Knights fell to the Cougars 20-25, 25-23, 25-17, 16-25, 15-11.
St. Norbert pulled away from a 13-13 tie in the opening set, using a 6-1 run to take a 20-14 lead en route to taking a 1-0 edge. The second set featured 11 ties, the last at 23-23, before Concordia scored the last two points to knot things at 1-1. In Set 3, St. Norbert saw a 7-7 tie rupture into a 20-9 deficit and fell behind 2-1.
The Green Knights never trailed in Set 4, building a 16-8 lead to force a decisive fifth set. St. Norbert went on a 4-0 run to take an 8-6 lead in the fifth set, but Concordia rallied with an 8-1 run to take control and secure the win.
St. Norbert hit .178 for the match, with 56 kills against 27 errors in 163 attempts. Gracie Buss had 11 kills, while Kayden Lamon added 10. Anna Kulick (pictured, left) and Brooklyn O’Malley (pictured, center) had nine kills apiece. Raina Ledzian finished with 29 assists, while Flynn Puttin had 14. Ledzian also added two service aces.
Maddie Kitowski finished with 22 digs, with Buss adding seven. O’Malley had five blocks, while Lamon finished with four.
Concordia hit .155, with 54 kills against 30 errors in 155 attempts. Indiah Day and Neva Foster each had 17 kills for the Cougars.
