BELLEVUE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Winter is coming and that means an increased need for indoor entertainment spots.
Bellevue is hoping a new option will make for a more well-rounded community.
Vertical Point Adventure Park is a $15 million project being billed as a facility unlike anything the state currently has available.
It would be built near the edge of Bellevue and Ledgeview, on Monroe Road, also known as County GV. That’s near Mr. Golf, on the south side of Highway 172, about 1.5 miles south of Costco.
Climbing structures, a high ropes course, laser tag, indoor slides, and an immersive theatre are some of the offerings announced for Vertical Point.
“The winters tend to be long, so it’s nice to have a place to go and bring children that they can run around and wear off some energy,” said Mary Dietsche of De Pere.
A spokesperson for Bayland Buildings said no one from the development is available yet for an interview. They did tell us part of the plans aren’t ready to be revealed but are “really unique” and they haven’t seen anything like them before.
“It’s kind of just a little bit different and it’s something we really can’t point to in the area or the region and say that’s exactly what it’s modeled after,” said Andrew Vissers, Bellevue Community Development Director.
Vissers says zoning for the development was approved in spring with site plans expected to be submitted in the next few weeks.
“There will be underground tunnels that can be utilized as part of the overall installation,” said Vissers. “There will be an upper mezzanine level which could have some of the cafeteria style areas.”
The footprint of the building would be about 23,000 square feet, but Bayland has said it will offer about 80,000 square feet of climbing space considering the building’s height.
Not only is this being pitched as something unique for Wisconsin, but it’s also something new for the east side of the Green Bay area. Normally, east side residents must make that dreaded trip across the Fox River if they want to visit any sort of indoor entertainment venue for kids.
“When our kids were real little, a lot of times we’d head down to Appleton,” said Dietsche. “There was this Xtreme Air down there that we would go to, but it never seemed like there was a real big facility up here.”
“Bellevue is kind of trying to create that full service community through private investment and through public investment,” said Vissers.
The hope is Vertical Point will add to the offerings at some point in 2027.
Vissers says the building will have ability for expansion if this idea takes off.
It would be open year-round and is being designed for people of all ages, according to Bayland.
