(LEARFIELD) – Packers coach Matt LaFleur says whether running back Josh Jacobs is back on the field Sunday will depend on how he practices this week.
The veteran was taken off the commissioner exempt list last week.
Green Bay’s running game has been non-existent through six contests.
Coach Matt LaFleur says Jacobs has been training while he was sidelined, but he is behind his teammates because he wasn’t allowed to practice.
LaFleur talked about whether or not Jacobs can rejuvenate the team’s running game.
LaFleur said that against Dallas, run blocking was good at times, not so good other times, but there were additional times where the run game concepts had no chance.
He said that they have to keep working to get the run game going.
Jacobs could, at least, be a valuable decoy when the Packers take on the Detroit Lions.
Those never-ending penalties: The NFL as a whole seems to have seen an uptick in roughing the quarterback calls this season and that includes the Packers.
LaFleur said that the team is analyzing roughing the quarterback calls.
He said that the Packers are certainly guilty on some of the calls.
LaFleur was asked if there is any recourse on calls they don’t believe were good.
Former Packers player Doubs to IR: The Pats’ receiving corps took another hit on Monday.
New England officially placed wideout Romeo Doubs on IR with a shoulder injury.
Doubs suffered the injury after landing hard on his right shoulder while hauling in a 42-yard touchdown in the Patriots’ recent victory over the New York Jets.
He will miss at least the next four games and is eligible to return against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 12.
Davante Adams ruptures hamstring: The Rams are going to be without one of their top playmakers for more than a month.
Wide receiver Davante Adams suffered a ruptured hamstring in Sunday’s loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
ESPN reports he will undergo a procedure and miss six to 10 weeks. The Rams visit the Raiders this Sunday.
