ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Cornerstone Community Center is set to celebrate the completion of a fourth ice rink this Friday.
The new Donald and Patricia Schneider Family Arena ice rink adds a 65,000-square-foot ice rink with 3,000 spectator seats for fans.
The Schneider Family Arena is the new home of St. Norbert College’s men’s and women’s hockey programs beginning in the 2026-27 season.
The Green Knights have dedicated locker rooms, athletic training and coaching and support staff space as part of the new rink. They also have new features such as hydrotherapy and a sauna. The locker rooms are provided in partnership with St. Norbert College. The College paid roughly $2M for furnishing both men and women’s locker rooms and the shared athletic recovery features.
St. Norbert’s men’s program moved into its previous facility at Cornerstone Community Center in Fall 2000, while the women’s program had called the adjacent Resch Olympic Pavilion home since the program began in Fall 2010.
The community is invited to attend the ribbon cutting on Friday, Oct. 30 at 10 a.m. at the Cornerstone Community Center.
The event will feature live music with food trucks including Heritage Coffee & Tea and Kickin’ Ash BBQ. Visitors will be able to tour the facility and receive a commemorative giveaway celebrating the grand opening.
Youth hockey teams and skating clubs will join in on the festivities with merchandise booths. Folks will also be able to purchase tickets to St. Norbert College Men’s Hockey home opener taking place later that evening against Oswego State University. Game starts at 7 p.m.
