(WTAQ)– Wisconsin Democrats appear poised to take control of the governor’s office and both chambers of the state Legislature for the first time in 16 years. Democrats entered Tuesday’s election seeking a political trifecta, and Republican Assembly Speaker Robin Vos acknowledged the party appears to have won enough seats to take control of the Assembly and Senate.
The Associated Press had not called enough legislative races late Tuesday night to officially determine control, but Vos congratulated Democrats and said the next two years will test their resolve.
Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Devin Remiker says Governor-elect David Crowley, Lieutenant Governor-elect Sarah Godlewski and Democratic legislative leaders plan to focus on lowering costs, expanding health care access, investing in public schools and strengthening the state’s economy.
