GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — There’s still no firm timeline as to when students in the Green Bay school district will head back to in-person class.
Board President Eric Vanden Heuval says that even though other districts have been able to head back to school, the situation in the Green Bay School district is unique, saying there are a lot of safety concerns around the number of staff they have available.
“It is the desire of all school board members to get kids back in school,” Vanden Heuval told Fox 11’s ‘Good Morning Wisconsin’ on Friday. “With the caveat of doing it safely.”
60% of Green Bay Area Public School District families would prefer their children return to in-person class.
“We’re hearing all of it, in spite of what people think, we are definitely listening,” said Vanden Heuval. “We are trying to weight, what are really no good options.”
The school board will continue discussion during their next school board meeting.
A special board meeting will be held Tuesday starting at 5:00 pm.
