OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The officer who was stabbed by a student, then shot that student, at Oshkosh West High School, has retired.
The Oshkosh Police Department announced Officer Mike Wissink’s retirement on its Facebook page.
Wissink was working as a school resource officer on Dec. 3, 2019, when then-16-year-old Grant Fuhrman allegedly stabbed him. Wissink then shot Fuhrman, and both were hospitalized.
Fuhrman faces a December trial on a charge of attempted first-degree intentional homicide. Prosecutors ruled Wissink was justified in shooting Fuhrman.
The Oshkosh Police Dept. says Wissink worked for the city for more than 23 years.
