(WNFL) – Various sources are reporting that University of Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez is going to return sooner than later.
Sources indicate that Alvarez has moved up his timeline to retire.
Alvarez who turned 74 in December has seen Wisconsin Badgers teams win 73 conference championships during his 19 year tenure.
Back in October, Alvarez told the Journal-Sentinel that after dealing with all the ramifications of the COVID-19 pandemic he was worn out.
Alvarez took over as athletic director in April 2004. He had been the highly successful coach of the football program prior to that.
