TOWN OF LEDGEVIEW, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A new art project is taking shape at a park in the Town of Ledgeview.
Four murals are being painted on the trail for all to enjoy.
On a popular pathway leading to the East River Trail, artist Lynn Peters worked on the very first mural at Ledgeview Park.
“I don’t think of myself as an artist as much as somebody who putters with art supplies,” said Lynn Peters, Artist.
Peters, and her crew used rollers, and brushes to fashion the 8 X 10 foot sections into trail art.
“The four murals have wildflowers, a dragonfly, sunshine, a sunburst kind of thing, and then the last one, I have to look is a spray of leaves. So outdoors themes,” she said.
Town of Ledgeview leaders say the work is the result of an effort to promote public art in the community. They say the initiative took almost a year.
“Making sure that we had all of our questions answered, and some of our fears qualmed before we started. So it took a while to really understand the process, what we needed to do. Finally, we just said all right, and I think we have enough information. Let’s start it and see what happens,” said Stephanie Schlag, Town of Ledgeview Park and Recreation Director.
Schlag says she’s impressed with the work.
“I think they look amazing. They’re very cool. They’re neat. They’re colorful,” she said.
Schlag says more trail art is planned in the future. Lynn Peters says the murals have a meaning.
“I think the message is use our beautiful parks, and enjoy our trails. Enjoy the out-of-doors. We have in this region, so many great opportunities,” she said.
Park officials say the project is expected to be completed early next week.
