OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — An Appleton teen whose actions led to a lockdown at three Neenah schools was upset with his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend, prosecutors allege.
Robert J. Lehto, 17, has been charged with making a terrorist threat. Investigators say on Monday a girl called 911 to report that her ex-boyfriend had sent a photo of a rifle, a video of him speeding to Neenah High School and photo of him in the school’s parking lot over social media.
The situation led the high school and two nearby elementary schools to go into lockdown.
Police found Lehto at his home in Appleton. He told officers he went to Neenah High School to confront the girl’s current boyfriend, but left when he said he did not want to fight.
Lehto also said the only gun he had access to was a handgun in his house, and that he had received the photo of the rifle from someone else.
If convicted, Lehto faces up to three and a half years in prison.
