OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Nearly two weeks after an Oshkosh bridge was closed due to concerns about a worn gear, the state still does not have an estimate for when it will re-open.
During a routine inspection of the Oregon-Jackson street bridge, engineers discovered worn components in the gear teeth that help raise and lower the bridge.
A DOT spokesman told FOX 11 Wednesday that work continues to determine the issues with the gears and how best to fix them. There is no timetable for when the bridge will re-open to traffic.
The bridge usually handles about 8,000 vehicles per day.
While the bridge is closed, drivers can cross the Fox River using the Main Street (Highway 45) or Wisconsin Street (Highway 44) bridges.
