KIMBERLY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — This riverfront view that used to be home to an operation related to the New Page Paper Mill will soon become the Blue at the Trails neighborhood, complete with condominiums and townhomes.
President of Hoffman Planning, Design, and Construction Sam Statz describes this project as a unique opportunity for the community.
“We are going to be phasing it. This first phase is going to be about 32 condo units and 4 townhomes, but all total when it’s all said done and after all the phases we are estimating probably about 200 plus some units,” Statz said.
There will be community access to a paved Fox River Trail in Kimberly.
“It’s also going to be bringing in the community, and not shutting them off from the river, we are going to be bringing in pathways in here and then there are going to be some common green spaces that are going to be actually allowing the community to be able to get access to the Fox River Trail as well,” said Statz.
Statz also mentioned that the old Shopko onsite will become a Festival Foods.
The Clapp family lives near the development site in Kimberly.
“We’re excited we don’t have to go all the way to Darboy or we don’t have to go all the way to Little Chute to go grocery shopping, we can just go on our bikes,” said Diana Clapp.
Christopher Clapp says they were thinking about moving, but after hearing about the redevelopment, they may stay.
“Thinking of where to move to but if all this development takes place we might just sit tight,” said Christopher Clapp.
Statz said they want the housing to be affordable and accommodating for everybody.
They are hoping to break ground on this project early next summer.
