FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A driver who hit an ambulance, killing a passenger in his vehicle, has learned his punishment.
David Worley, 20, of Theresa, will spend eight years in prison, followed by seven years extended supervision for the drunken driving crash.
Prosecutors say at 4:25 a.m. on Sept. 15, 2020, Worley was driving north on Main Street in Fond du Lac when he ran a red light at Johnson Street and hit the ambulance. A 21-year-old passenger was thrown from Worley’s vehicle and died. A patient in the ambulance, and two ambulance crew members, had minor injuries.
The crash was captured on surveillance video.
A blood test showed Worley’s blood alcohol concentration at .213.
In April, Worley pleaded no contest to one count of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle. Two other counts were dismissed.
