NEW ORLEANS – Steven Hermsen of Carroll University men’s track and field was named the 2022 USTFCCCA DIII Outdoor Track and Field Scholar Field Athlete of the Year for the second-straight season. He is the only Pioneer to be named Scholar Field Athlete of the Year twice.
Hermsen, a senior exercise science major from De Pere, Wisconsin, claimed the 2022 NCAA DIII Track and Field Discus title for his second-straight win in the event. Hermsen was named the CoSIDA Academic All-American Team Member of the Year on top of his second-straight First-Team Academic All-America nod. In the indoor season, Hermsen was named the 2022 NCAA DIII Men’s Indoor Track and Field Elite 90 recipient.
On top of Hermsen’s individual recognition, both Carroll University men’s and women’s track and field teams were selected as USTFCCCA DIII All-Academic teams, and nine other Pioneers were named individual All-Academic this season.
