MARINETTE COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A vehicle in the Town of Beaver hit a power pole Wednesday, setting the pole on fire and ultimately killing one of the four men in the car.
The Marinette County Sheriff Office responded to a call about the pole fire on Third Road between Highway 64 and County P at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they found the vehicle in a corn field with a 53-year-old man nearby who was thrown from the vehicle. The man was pronounced dead on the scene.
The Sheriff’s Office says two other men were able to walk away from the crash and get help at a nearby farm. They were transported to a hospital for treatment.
A fourth man walked away from the crash and has not been located.
This case is still under investigation, and the Sheriff’s Office says it will release further information later.
