MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Jordan-Anthony Roberson was sentenced to time served and probation for three years for a shooting near a city park in February 2022.
A prison sentence for Roberson, 18, was stayed by Judge Jerilyn Dietz, but would be imposed if he violates the terms of probation.
Roberson apologized, calling it an act of self-defense. He said he regrets what he did, and the resulting time away from his family due to the jail time for the last year. He wants to be positive force in life moving forward.
Roberson was convicted of discharging a firearm and bail jumping. The most serious count of first-degree recklessly endangering safety was dismissed.
Police received reports of shots fired in the area of Westfield Park on Feb. 6, 2022. Witnesses and area surveillance showed multiple males engaged in a physical altercation that led to shots fired and multiple suspect vehicles driving away from the area.
A relative told police Roberson said he was in an altercation at the park, someone shot at him, and he fired back and fled the area, the probable cause statement reads.
Another suspect, Caiden Peterson, 17, has a status conference on March 22 on five counts, including two of first-degree recklessly endangering safety.
No one was injured.
