The Green Bay Phoenix Women’s Golf team captured the first Horizon League Championship in program history this week at Howey-In-The-Hills, Florida. GB finished the three round tournament with a score of 914, good for a 12 shot victory over runner-up Oakland. Ashley Kulka finished 4th individually, one shot out of third place after and even par round of 72 in the tournament’s second round. Isabela Maleki came in 5th thanks to a one over par 73 in the second round and Courtney Matschke climbed into a tie for 6th by firing a one under 71 on the final day. The Phoenix have now qualified for their first ever trip to the NCAA Women’s Golf Championshp and they will find out which sectional they are headed to on Wednesday afternoon. Regional competition takes place May 8-10.
The Green Bay men finished 10th in the conference tournament with Zak Kulka and Joe Forsting each finishing tied for 34th individually.
