BRILLION, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A Calumet County company says its immediately ending some shift operations.
AriensCo. is ending its 2nd, 3rd and weekend shift operations at its Brillion campus as part of its plan to rebalance its manufacturing workforce to maximize production output.
The company says it’s expanding the production output on first shift, allowing impacted employees to apply for the roughly 100 open positions.
AriensCo. did not say if there are enough open positions for impacted employees to apply for or how many jobs will be lost by cutting the shifts.
“We understand this rebalance directly affects employees and have provided paid time for them to apply for open roles. As a strong, family-owned company celebrating 90 years of business, AriensCo remains committed to supporting our employees, our hometown of Brillion, WI, and our customers around the world,” AriensCo. said.
“There’s definitely going to be a net loss of jobs in Brillion as a result of the layoffs,” says Mayor of Brillion Mike Smith.
Smith expressed that it’s a sad day for Brillion.
“I’m very sad, there’s families who lost both incomes as a result of this, people who both husband and wife worked at Ariens and so very sad for the community,” says Smith.
Smith added that he will do what he can to support those who lost a job.
“We will do what we need to do to make sure we rally around them and provide them assistance whether it’s food drives, or hosting job fairs at city hall or the community center,” says Smith.
