MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — A State Assembly committee heard comments on Tuesday on a bill that would require communities to hold on to any video footage of ballot counts or canvassing.
Bill co-sponsor, Republican Shae Sortwell, says the bill is there to improve election integrity.
“This bill will require that the broadcast is kept as a record and maintained for 22 months as other election records are,” said Sortwell.
A number of communities across the country, including Milwaukee, live-streamed their election counts in 2020 in order to stave off accusations of fraud.
