GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A man turned into police by his ex-wife for burglarizing a church was sentenced to six years in prison.
Gerald Trotter, 56, was also placed on extended supervision for five years at Friday’s hearing by Judge Kendall Kelley, court records show.
The prison term is consecutive to Trotter’s current prison sentence. He appeared in court Friday by video from Kettle Moraine Correctional, according to court records. Trotter has previous convictions for burglary and robbery.
During the Sept. 12 burglary at the shared building of Ace Teaching & Consulting and Samaritan’s Heart Mission Church, electronics and a debit card were taken.
According to the criminal complaint, Trotter’s ex-wife recognized him from the surveillance image shared by local media.
Police recovered a pry bar and screwdriver from under his backpack at the residence where he was arrested.
