GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A woman convicted of stealing more than $600,000 from her former employer, his family, and other victims was sentenced to 21 years in prison.
Theresa Lasee was previously convicted of six felony counts. At Friday’s sentencing, she was also placed on extended supervision for 11 years, and ordered to perform 500 hours of community service, court records show.
Brown County sheriff’s officials say Lasee took at least $415,000 from her former boss and thousands more from his brother and his mother. That is on top of at least $223,000 Green Bay police say Lasee took from three victims there.
Her former boss called investigators after realizing the more than $559,000 he sold his business for two years ago was missing from the bank account he put it in. He also started receiving notices he was not making his vehicle payments.
Lasee had been licensed to sell insurance and policies. According to criminal complaints, for years Lasee would forge signatures to write checks to herself and drain life insurance policies.
