It started around 12:45 a.m. Thursday when a Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic light violation on I-41 at Johnson Street in the town of Fond du Lac.
Even after the deputy turned on his emergency lights and sirens, the vehicle continued to travel at a high rate of speed. The 1.12-mile pursuit was terminated due to unsafe speeds.

Then an officer with the village of North Fond du Lac spotted the vehicle going east on Winnebago Street at a high rate of speed. An additional attempt was made to stop the vehicle, but it continued to speed away and the one-mile pursuit ended.
That’s when the suspect vehicle struck a tire deflation device that had been previously set up by Fond du Lac police officers. The vehicle came to a stop at the dead end of Hickory Street and Montana Street. The driver was taken into custody without further incident.
